Symmetrical triangles and "pennants" are often considered to be similar if not identical patterns.  Both are formed by a downtrend line and an uptrend line intersecting.  Pennants typically are differentiated by the size or length of the pattern.  Larger symmetrical triangles are often called "pennants".
