The technology behind your Autochartist program

Central Engine

The Autochartist Central Pattern Identification Engine (CPIE) is made up of a cluster of high-end servers with a number of powerful mathematical processors. These machines run at close to maximum capacity around the clock, every day of the year.

The identification of chart patterns requires a very processor-intensive software algorithm. This algorithm makes the server evaluate millions of possibilities of patterns in every price graph, over different time scales.

Although the algorithm could perform its pattern identification on a normal PC, it would only be possible to scan a handful of price graphs in a reasonable amount of time. The real advantage of the Autochartist service is that it scans thousands of graphs in real time; a task that cannot be performed on any personal computer.

Generic Data Feeds

Price data from various exchanges and data providers are fed into a central price database. The CPIE uses this database when running the pattern identification algorithm. Certain large institutional clients of Autochartist require that the pattern identification be done on their own data feeds. Fortunately the architecture of the datafeeds are totally generic - each price feed connects to the central repository through a universal interface. This allows for the easy addition of new datafeeds.

Satellite Server Architecture for Delivery

With many end users spread across the globe, the potential problem of a bottleneck at the CPIE is overcome through the provision of a distributed web server architecture.

Pattern results are served to end users from Satellite Servers that are set up in their geographic areas. The Satellite Servers continually receive the latest pattern results from the CPIE or from intermedate Satellite Servers. These servers handle multiple simultaneous requests from users and relieves the load of the central servers.

The design of this Satellite Server network offers unlimited scalability of the Autochartist Service. New clients with thousands of end users can be set up overnight and added to the distribution network.

White Label Services

The modular design of the Autochartist system gives it great flexibility, not only with the collection of price data, but also with the delivery of results. There are two standard mechanisms through which Autochartist delivers results to end users:

Windows Application (White label)
The simplest way to bring Autochartist to any group of users is through a Windows application that mimicks the functionality of an instant messenger program. This application provides a non-intrusive, user friendly delivery mechanism that can be white labeled for any organisation's look and feel. It does not require any integration and can be prepared within one working day.

API

The Autochartist API allows quick integration into existing Technical Analysis platforms. It comes in the form of a Windows DLL, and with a few simple function calls, any application can be extended to include the Autochartist results in real time. The only prerequisites are internet connectivity and chart display functionality.
